Curriculum & Testing Committee (CTC)

About

The Curriculum and Testing Committee (CTC) is the group of dedicated experts responsible for the integrity and quality of the Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) Program. Comprised exclusively of active Charter Holders, this committee ensures the CMT designation remains the global standard for the discipline of technical analysis. The creation of the CMT Program in the late 1980s was a landmark achievement for our Association. 26Frederic Dickson created the first 200 questions, and early volunteers on the CMT and Accreditation Committees, like Alan R. Shaw, drafted the curriculum. The CTC continues this legacy, adapting the program to reflect the evolving practice of technical analysis.

Mission

The mission of the Curriculum and Testing Committee (CTC) is to be the essential guardian of the quality, relevance, and integrity of the Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) Program. As subject matter experts, we are responsible for meticulously defining and maintaining the CMT Body of Knowledge, ensuring that our curriculum and exams represent the absolute global standard for technical analysis. We value expertise, rigor, and adaptability. We constantly monitor the evolving needs of the financial industry, updating the curriculum to reflect modern market tools and practices. This vigilant process ensures that every individual who earns the CMT designation possesses the most current and comprehensive knowledge required for professional excellence, thereby protecting the value of the charter for all members and the trust placed in it by employers worldwide.
