The Outreach & Advocacy Committee is a specialized group within CMT Association focused on expanding awareness and understanding of the Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designation among financial professionals and industry stakeholders worldwide. Comprised of active Charter Holders and experienced members with expertise in communications, industry relations, and public affairs, the committee drives strategic initiatives to position the CMT designation as the benchmark for technical analysis proficiency. Their work supports the Association’s goal of enhancing the professional recognition and market relevance of the CMT credential across diverse global markets.

Mission

The Outreach & Advocacy Committee’s mission is to promote the value and credibility of the Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designation through targeted outreach and advocacy efforts. The committee executes strategic communications and engagement campaigns that educate key audiences about the benefits and rigor of the CMT Program. By fostering strong relationships with industry influencers, employers, and regulatory bodies, the committee ensures the designation’s relevance and adoption in evolving financial markets. The committee upholds transparency, professionalism, and evidence-based advocacy to advance the interests of CMT candidates, charterholders, and the broader Association. Their work directly contributes to enhancing the CMT designation’s global visibility and professional impact.

The Group Experience
SHAPE THE FUTURE OF TECHNICAL ANALYSIS

CMT Association committees are standing bodies of charterholders who steward a specific function of the Association — curriculum, ethics, governance, programming, and more. Committee members are appointed based on qualifications and experience.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop outreach strategies
    Create and implement outreach and advocacy plans that align with CMT Association’s strategic goals to increase awareness and recognition of the CMT designation
  • Engage key stakeholders
    Identify and build relationships with industry influencers, employers, and professional groups to promote the value and relevance of the CMT credential
  • Monitor industry trends
    Track regulatory changes and market developments that impact technical analysis credentials to inform advocacy approaches and maintain alignment with industry needs
  • Collaborate on advocacy materials
    Work closely with marketing and communications teams to develop targeted materials that support outreach efforts and effectively communicate the benefits of the CMT designation
  • Evaluate outreach effectiveness
    Analyze the impact of outreach initiatives, report findings to the committee, and recommend adjustments to improve advocacy outcomes
