Ethics & Standards Committee (E&S)

About

The Ethics & Standards Committee (E&S) is a global body of senior and independent Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) Charter Holders charged with enforcing the CMT Association’s Code of Ethics. This committee investigates formal complaints of professional misconduct, conducts hearings in line with the Association’s bylaws, and recommends disciplinary actions to the Board of Directors. By ensuring adherence to rigorous standards of competence, integrity, and ethical judgment, the E&S Committee preserves the credibility of the CMT designation. Their work supports the trust placed in technical analysis professionals worldwide and aligns directly with the Association’s commitment to ethical practice.

Mission

The Ethics & Standards Committee upholds the highest standards of professional conduct within the CMT Association by administering and enforcing the Code of Ethics with impartiality and rigor. The committee investigates complaints thoroughly, conducts hearings in accordance with governing bylaws, and recommends appropriate disciplinary measures to the Board. It operates with discretion and independence to maintain accountability and protect the public trust in the CMT designation. By fostering a culture of ethical rigor and consistent enforcement, the committee ensures that members meet the competence and integrity expectations essential to the profession. The committee also advises on updates to the Code of Ethics to reflect evolving standards and challenges in the financial industry.
